Healthcare on Wheels: Navigating Riverine and Remote Communities

In hard-to-reach riverine and agrarian settlements, reaching a secondary healthcare facility can require hours on rugged terrain or canoe crossings. For vulnerable residents, routine health screenings and early diagnosis were often out of reach until CCCRN deployed specialized mobile clinical vans.

Equipped with rapid diagnostic testing equipment, solar-powered specimen storage, and trained bilingual counseling teams, these mobile units travel on scheduled weekly circuits.

Field Highlights

  • Provided voluntary screening to over 28,000 individuals in remote wards over the past 12 months.
  • Achieved same-day linkage to care of 97% for newly diagnosed individuals via assigned community case managers.
  • Integrated simultaneous screening for hypertension, diabetes, and tuberculosis into every mobile session.
