Through a subaward from the CDC-funded APIN-iCARES project, CCCRN contributed to achieving HIV epidemic control by delivering comprehensive prevention and treatment services to 53,010 People living with HIV in 13 LGAs of Benue State. To achieve this, CCCRN strengthened the health systems in 64 health facilities and partnered with 4 community-based organizations to deliver services within communities to both general and key populations of interest. The project closed with high client retention rates and a virological suppression rate above 96% for clients on treatment.
Addressing the HIV epidemic in Benue State required a massive, coordinated effort to deliver comprehensive, accessible prevention and treatment services to tens of thousands of people living with HIV across multiple Local Government Areas.
The gap between national health policies and localized implementation creates a critical vulnerability. When communities lack ownership and immediate access to resources, entire health systems struggle to function effectively under pressure.
